PHYS111 - Introduction to Physics

Introduction to Physics is a Liberal Studies course for the non-science major seeking a connection between science and the world we live in. The student will gain an understanding of concepts in physics such as Newton's Law's of motion, gravity, energy, thermodynamics, waves, electricity, magnetism, optics and relativity. The emphasis is on learning to think logically in order to analyze and solve problems, to develop and expand your intuition for the physical world, and to learn how things work. The laboratories will emphasize hands-on investigation of topics covered in lecture. Prerequisites: ENG095, MATH095 and READ095, or ENG098 and MATH095, or equivalent COMPASS/ACT scores.
